Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Guess the Movie ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Guess the Movie iOS application — an emoji quiz game.

The short version. Guess the Movie has no account and does not collect your name. Your scores, stats and questions are stored on your device. We use Firebase for notifications and analytics, and AppsFlyer to measure which ad brought you to the app. The app works the same whether or not you allow tracking.

1. Information we process

a. Question generation

To create puzzles, the app sends our backend (a Cloudflare Worker, which forwards to the AI provider Groq) the difficulty levels, your chosen language, and a list of titles to skip so questions don't repeat. These requests contain no personal information — the game has no free-text input.

b. Game data on your device

Your scores, best streak, run history, daily progress, downloaded questions and settings are stored only on your device. "Reset stats" in Settings clears them.

c. Push notifications — Firebase Cloud Messaging

If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns your installation a push token so we can send reminders. You can turn notifications off any time in iOS Settings.

d. Analytics — Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (screens opened, features tapped) and improve it. This includes app and device information such as device model, OS version, language and approximate region derived from IP — not precise location.

e. Attribution & advertising measurement — AppsFlyer

We use AppsFlyer to measure which marketing campaign led to your install. AppsFlyer processes device identifiers and install/session events. If you grant tracking permission, this may include the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA).

f. Diagnostics

We may receive aggregated crash and performance data to keep the app stable.

2. App Tracking Transparency

iOS asks your permission before the app can track you across other apps and websites. If you deny, AppsFlyer will not use the IDFA. Guess the Movie plays exactly the same either way — no feature is gated behind it. Change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

3. Third-party services

The services below process data on our behalf; their own policies apply:

4. How we use information

  • To generate and deliver the quiz puzzles you play.
  • To send notifications you have opted into.
  • To understand usage and improve the app.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • To keep the app secure and stable.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

Data on your device remains until you reset stats or delete the app. Data held by our providers follows their standard retention periods.

6. Children

Guess the Movie is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your choices

  • Notifications — turn off in iOS Settings.
  • Tracking — deny or revoke in iOS Settings.
  • Game data — "Reset stats" in the app's Settings.
  • Requests — email us to ask a question or request deletion of data associated with your device.

8. Security

Requests to our backend are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we process.

9. International users

Our providers may process data on servers outside your country. By using Guess the Movie you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
